Al Reed
A Lifelong Entrepreneur
On a Mission
Born to Be
an Entrepreneur
Al Reed’s entrepreneurial journey began as a child, when he sold penny candy to his classmates for $0.10 each. He was a natural hustler, best exemplified by the fact that Al used to collect free fair ticket coupons at the grocery store and sell them to his peers for $1.
By age 10, Al was climbing the entrepreneurial ladder by starting his aluminum can recycling business. His grandmother handed him two bags—one for collecting cans and another for collecting garbage—and told young Al how important it was to keep God’s earth clean.
From there, he naturally grew into cutting the lawns of his neighbors before spending his summers picking tomatoes, peas, and okra in the fields. His childhood was the foundation for the entrepreneurial success he would later achieve.
In Al’s eyes, that drive to achieve success and build wealth came from his humble beginnings. Growing up in Florida, Al’s family lived in a small two-bedroom home without central air or heat. They would sometimes be without running water, which gave Al a unique perspective on life…
“I guess you can say seeing my parents struggle as a youngster made me want to change my family history and look for ways to create generational wealth. – Al Reed
The Competitive Nature
That Drives Al Forward
Winning has always been at the forefront of Al Reed’s mind. No matter the circumstance, becoming the best is always his goal.
In his younger years, that mindset manifested itself in the form of chasing down blue ribbons and obsessing over trophies. Al would often challenge his classmates to a race home from the bus—a two-mile journey—and practice for a month in advance of school field days. That competitive drive also resulted in three-straight first-place finishes in the school talent show.
Yet the most telling story of Al Reed’s competitiveness comes through the sport of basketball. Despite a lack of natural gifts, Al made the last roster spot on the junior varsity team due to his drive and heart to get better, in the words of his coach. It became Al’s mission to improve in that craft, which he did every day in the dirt in the side yard of his house, where his father put up a basketball hoop. Fast forward three years to the team awards ceremony, when Al’s coach handed him a box of eight trophies—a school record for leading the team in all but one statistic. Al would go on to become an All-County basketball player and earn a full athletic scholarship to attend college.
The Revelation
That Changed Al’s Life
One opportunity led to another as Al went from selling high-end jewelry to being introduced to MLM. As a natural salesman, Al excelled in his role and soon had 300 college students in his downline funnel. Yet what he thought was the path toward new riches resulted in anything but, which served as the foundation for the revelation that changed Al Reed’s life forever.
After 10 years in MLM, trying to sell and promote the products of others, Al realized that the only path to true success was through selling his own products and services. With that nugget in the back of his mind, he went to work as a sales rep and was eventually approached by a recruiter. Al turned down the job offer, noting that he needed to sell his own products to achieve success, which is when the recruiter gave Al a book that changed everything.
“Think and Grow Rich,” a book by Napoleon Hill, taught Al that an idea was all he needed to achieve life-changing wealth and success. That set the stage for a long entrepreneurial road that would be paved with plenty of failure…
Failure as the Foundation
of Future Success
From a party rental company to three different eBay businesses and beyond, 13 different “failed” businesses would become Al Reed’s foundation for massive success. Every failure taught Al a valuable lesson, and every opportunity gave Al the chance to better himself.
His first entrepreneurial success came when he realized the need for cardboard box delivery. Boxes on Wheels was born, which provided free box delivery to homes and businesses. After a period of hardship, Al was on the verge of closing yet another business. The next day, a customer called with a request for used boxes. That’s when the lightbulb went off in Al’s head. By recycling and reselling used boxes, Al could provide an affordable, in-demand product while helping the environment in his own way.
Al spent years living out of the same warehouse he worked in to make this idea work. 10 years after starting Boxes On Wheels, Al had earned a national vendor agreement with ACE Hardware, strategic partnerships across the country, and a successful business bringing in seven figures every year! With a taste of success, Al entered the beginnings of what would become his second great entrepreneurial victory. A new partnership was founded on the opportunity to sell batteries, which began by purchasing and reselling new and reconditioned batteries.
Al recognized the high demand for reconditioned batteries, but discovered that both the quality and warranty of this battery type was insufficient. Through trial and error, Al became an expert in battery reconditioning and developed his own in-house reconditioning formula, which improved the quality and longevity of battery performance.
Al obtained the technology rights and launched Battery Guyz, a business that recycles used batteries to provide customers with great quality and performance for incredibly affordable prices. Best of all, Al’s 100% Green Recycling Method reduces landfills, lowers energy consumption, and minimizes pollution.
To date, Battery Guyz has generated seven-figure returns and is poised to become a household brand on the national and international stages as Al launches franchising opportunities for this revolutionary business Click here to learn more about Battery Guyz.
